Eileen in Coronation Street
Sue Cleaver has been part of Coronation Street for a long time and she plays a tough and strong character named Eileen. She is employed at Street Cars as a switch operator and has been living at 11 Coronation Street since 2001. Eileen got her job at Street Cars because Vikram Desai, a taxi driver, saw that she knew a lot about the area and asked her to work for him. She settled in at No.11 with her two teenage sons, Jason and Todd, whom she brought up by herself.
Over the years, Eileen has always been at Street Cars, ready to help out the different owners, especially Steve McDonald. In 2010, she purchased No.11 from Steve. Eileen is strong and looks after her sons. She and her mother, Gail, have argued a lot about Todd's relationships. Even though Todd has made mistakes, Eileen has stayed loyal to him.
Over time, Eileen has had many tenants and partners, including a brief marriage to Pat Phelan, who was later found to be involved in illegal activities. At the moment, Eileen is dating George Shuttleworth and they live at No.11 with Todd and also have Sean and Mary Taylor as lodgers. She is still a major character in the Coronation Street TV show.
Why is Eileen Leaving Coronation Street?
Eileen Grimshaw, the character played by Sue Cleaver, is leaving Coronation Street because her son Jason got hurt in a motorbike accident. Even though Jason lives far away in Thailand, Eileen wants to be with him while he recovers. But that's not her only worry. Her other son, Todd, found out about a will that affects their family's business. Eileen thinks it's important to tell her boyfriend George everything, so she shares the news with him. George realizes that his sister should get part of their family business.
Eileen feels bad about leaving George when he's upset, but he tells her he'll be okay. She hopes she won't be gone too long, but in real life, Sue Cleaver, the actress who plays Eileen, is leaving because she's going to be in a play called Sister Act: The Musical. So, Eileen's character will be away from the show for a while. This means George will have to handle things on his own while Eileen is gone. He starts thinking about what might happen next and talks to George's sister about their family business.
Eileen Coronation Street Weight Loss
Sue Cleaver, who is known for her role as Eileen Grimshaw on Coronation Street, recently talked about how she lost three stone (about 42 pounds) by making big changes in her lifestyle. Sue tried different ways to lose weight, but she discovered that quitting alcohol made the most impact. She said to Woman magazine that she lost around 21 pounds by giving up alcohol before going on the reality show I'm A Celebrity in 2022.
Sue feels that taking part in Dry January and not drinking alcohol for the entire month, was the beginning of her journey to being alcohol-free. She found out that drinking wine every day makes her eat a lot of extra calories, especially when she has more than one glass at night.
Sue realized during the lockdown that she was drinking a lot of wine, which caused her to gain weight. This made her want to attempt Dry January and she questioned whether giving up alcohol completely would make her life better. Sue has lost a lot of weight and is now on the Loose Women show instead of being on Coronation Street.
On the show, she said that her weight changed because of health problems and her love of red wine. Even though she's lost weight, Sue said she's had health issues this year that have affected her metabolism. In general, she focused on the good effects of stopping drinking alcohol on her health and weight loss trip.
