Did Sugarland Break Up? Understanding the Band's History

Did Sugarland Break Up?
Yes, Sugarland did break up in 2012. But according to Nettles, one of the members, it wasn’t as big of a fight or dramatic split as the news made it seem. It was more like they took a break from working together for a while, like a friendly pause. Then, in 2017, Nettles and Bush, the other member, got back together and started working as a band again. They didn’t have any hard feelings toward each other.
During the break, Nettles had a baby in December 2012 and tried out acting. She also released her own solo album called "That Girl" in January 2014. She explained that she made the album because she wanted to try something new and express herself in a different way.
Even though they took some time apart, Nettles and Bush always said they were open to getting back together. But sometimes, the media likes to make things sound more dramatic than they really are. Despite what people might have thought, there wasn’t any big fight between them. Now, they're still a band and are getting ready to go on tour with another group called Little Big Town.
Why did Sugarland Break Up?
Nettles and Bush both had personal reasons for why the band took a break. Nettles wanted to focus on taking care of her son, working on her own music, and other professional projects. Bush was going through a divorce and wanted to explore his own creative interests.
But even though they took a break, Bush made it clear when he released his solo album "Southern Gravity" in 2015 that Sugarland wasn’t over forever. He said, “I see us making more Sugarland records. I'm just not sure when.” And he was right.

What Happened to the Other Member in Sugarland?
What happened to the other members of Sugarland? Kristen Hall unexpectedly left the band in 2005. Shortly after Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno without Hall, they announced on their website that she was leaving because she wanted to focus on writing songs at home. They supported her decision. Later on, Nettles and Bush released their first album without Hall, called Enjoy the Ride. One of the songs on this album, "Stay," won a Grammy Award.
After leaving the band, Hall didn't release much new music except for a six-song EP called Katy the WonderCub in 2008. In the same year, Hall sued Nettles and Bush for a share of the band's profits, claiming she was owed one-third. She asked for $1.5 million and lawyer fees.
Nettles and Bush said they never agreed to share profits and didn't think Hall's role in the band was as significant. Three days before the case was supposed to go to trial, the band settled out of court. The terms of the settlement were not made public.
